Toward a greater precision in hail metaphors

From the official National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration Hail Diameter Size Descriptors via Dustbury:

¼ inch = pea
½ = small marble
¾ = penny
7/8 = nickel
1 = quarter
1¼ = half-dollar
1½ = walnut
1¾ = golf ball
2 = hen egg
2½ = tennis ball
2¾ = baseball
3 = teacup
4 = grapefruit
4½ = softball

Because, wouldn't you rather know you were hit by a grapefruit-sized hunk of ice than a softball-sized one?

Comments

5.0" = Cantaloupe

5.5" = Dodge ball

6.0+ = Apocolyptical/Rapture

What? No Holy Hand Grenade of Antioch?

I'll have two hen eggs and half a grapefruit, please. That way, at least I'd be able to eat after being hit.

I'm wondering where they came up with teacup?
