Further evidence that Humans as a group are a nasty, immoral, irresponsible bunch.. Syphilis was the AIDS of it's day.. Killed any number of people in a particularly horrible fashion..Didnt sneak up on them either.. ugly weeping, open sores were a tell. Yet was threat of it enough to stop the horny masses from screwing anything that walked, crawled or had a useable orfice? No more then than the threat of AIDS does today... We've always been no more than pitiful slaves to our most base impulses..
any pretense of civilization is just that.. a pretense.
