This is a compass Michelangelo used while working on the Sistine ceiling. It's part of a "Vatican Splendors" exhibit bound for Minneapolis.

The few Vatican exhibits I have seen have all been spectacular. Thanks for posting this and the link...I hope to find an excuse to make it to Minneapolis to see this one. Plus it reminds me I need to check out the da Vinci exhibit that just opened at the San Jose Tech Museum.
