Ananova reports:
The Cow Protection Department of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh, India's biggest and oldest Hindu nationalist group, is behind the new brew, reports The Times.
Department head Om Prakash said the drink - called "gau jal" or "cow water" - was undergoing lab tests and would be launched "very soon, maybe by the end of this year". . . .
Mr Prakash said his drink was made mainly of cow urine, mixed with herbs, and would be "cheap", but declined to give further details until it was officially launched.
He insisted, however, that it would be able to compete with the likes of Coca Cola and Pepsi.

Mmmmm... Warm and juicy cow piss... Allgghhhhhh...

Them wacky furriners. They'll never sell that piss in America.
Except-- hmm-- this on boingboing.net: http://tinyurl.com/b3l3eo (Our Food Is Full of Crap), which points to a New York Times article on the subject.
Mainly, though, it makes me think about the things people I know like to eat that I don't want to even be in the same room with. Vomitous expensive runny moldy cheeses, for example-- in fact, anything made out of a goat or what comes from a goat. They served ice cream made from goat's milk at a place Juanita took me to once, and I tasted some to be polite. So much for politeness.

It can only compete with Coca Cola and Pepsi if it is carbonated; winding in the piss, if you will...

If you're grossed out by goat cheese, Marco, here's something. you might want to avoid as well.

I am no admirer of Hindu Nationalism however this news appears to be a piece of fiction. Anybody having this kind of drink idea would promptly find himself in jail, in India.

That's a relief Rakesh! I'm a great proponent of Indian cuisine and the cow pee soda just somehow doesn't jibe...
Although Reuters and Times Online haven't retracted yet.
