My wife got me a kitten while I was at work last night. We have a 8 month old one already and he's not happy about it yet. As I type, the new kitty is sitting on my foot and chewing on my pajamas.
Downy fur partly, but their bones, being not yet fully developed, are lighter. That explains the upstroke distance. Coming down, the small flesh-sacks in the armpits and hocks are more malleable than a grown animal. Think Rocket J. Squirrel.
I've never tried one with the flight goggles. Whatever was lost due to aerodynamic drag would be more than made up for in the shrieking kitty's fashion statement.

Awwwww. As long as the sharp little kitty teeth don't dig into your bare toes.

Kitty. Kitty kitty kitty. They are so cute. Until they shred you with those adorable little claws.

Kittens are far superior to grown cats for drop-kicking. They catch major air.

Do you suppose it's the downy fur that gives them the extra loft?

With or without the little flight goggles?
