Come on in and talk. Or drop off one of your random bursts of verbal energy -- poem, limerick, story, top ten list, clerihew, essay, rant, Surrealist or Dadaist poem, parody, cento, dirty joke, amusing syllepsis, dirty syllepsis, haiku, dirty haiku . . . to share.
I just got an urgent e-mail from a Zimbabwean refugee named Janet Malani,; widow of deceased engineer Solomon Soney, of Bulawayo-Zimbabwe.
I feel sorry for this woman as the evil government of Zimbabwe stole the family farm and killed her husband and family (and presumably their cows and pigs and chickens and stuff, too). Now the poor woman is stuck with 18 Million U.S. Dollars in an unmarked crate at a security company in South Africa. However, she doesnt want to live like a queen in South Africa.. She wants to be an American (sniff:sniff: this part brings a tear to my eye)She's so desperate for an American to help her that she's willing to pay 20% of her meager life savings if I'll receive and accept shipment of the crate of money. I think I'll help her even if there are risks to me (I could get a hernia from lifting that money or something).. Its the American way.. As long as she shows good faith by sending me half (10% or 1.8 million U.S.$)up front to cover my expenses. If I let these terrorists make me afraid to help another oppressed soul yearning to be free. well then the terrorists will have won.

Jake, did you ever read Steve's (Hog on Ice) series on this? Funny stuff.
Another scam - we were trying to sell a car a while back, and I was introduced - a couple dozen times - to the scam they run there. See, they want the car- for a client. They have a cheque for several thousand dollars OVER your asking price, but they cannot reissue in the new amount. They will send you the check, and in return, you give them the difference (between your asking price, and the overage.) I cannot tell you how many such "offers" we received.
