Here's a website on Serving Proper English Tea. The only thing I disagree with them on is the type of teas they suggest. I wouldn't use a fruit tea or a Darjeeling with mild and sugar, only with lemon and/or sugar. The kind of tea that goes best with milk and sugar is a good quality black tea blend. I am perfectly happy using Yellow Label Lipton. This is not to be confused with ordinary American Lipton, which is, as one of the reviewers at the previous link says, "terrible swill." Usually, you need to go to a specialty store to get it. Any oriental grocery should have Yellow Label. Typhoo is good when it's fresh, but it goes off very quickly and tastes horrible. I don't care for Twinings, which I think is too weak. Anything called "English Breakfast Tea" is probably too weak as well. You need a very robust tea to stand up to the milk and sugar.
