I always liked the Pied Pipers better-Jo Stafford, Sinatra-but the Andrews Sisters were good too. Of course Frank Sinatra wasn't a girl, so it wasn't a girl group strictly speaking, but you get the point.
Suzy Bogguss did a funny take-off on Mr. Sandman called Mr. Santa.
The best version of Mr. Sandman is probably the one by Janis Siegel of Manhattan Transfer.
